An
Atlanta native Jennifer Frangi
was born into an artistic family where every member has some natural
ability and raised in a home where self expression was always encouraged.
She had always created and studied art but it wasn’t until her twenties
that she began to actively pursue a life as a professional artist. She
began studying sculpture at
Georgia
State
University, figure drawing at
Callanwolde, and print making, painting, and wood working at
Atlanta
College of Art. In a mixed
media sculpture class, she learned to cast iron and bronze sculpture. For
Jennifer working with molten metals was truly empowering and life
changing. Several years later when Jennifer became pregnant with her
daughter she needed to find an artistic medium less physical demanding but
just as rewarding. A friend introduced her to the world of glass
fusing. It was in glass that Jennifer found her true calling and began to
receive recognition for her art. The possibilities available in glass keep
her constantly passionate, experimenting, and seeking out new directions.
She began to teach glass kiln forming as a way of honoring those teachers
that had been so influential in her life. She currently teaches at Davens
Glass Room and Spruill
Arts
Center. Jennifer’s art focuses
on incorporating painting, printmaking, and sculptural
techniques in kilnformed glass. Her art is representational with abstract
elements, ancient references, and intricate patterns. Her work has been
exhibited in many Atlanta galleries and has even been featured on HGTV's
That's Clever.
